a) Define the term pollution.
Ans. The presence of harmful or poisonous substance in the environment is called pollution.
b) Explain any two causes of air pollution.
Ans. i) Air pollutants like automobile exhaust as they release harmful gases in the atmosphere.
ii) Toxic gases emitted by industries.
iii) Cutting of trees results in increased amount of carbon dioxide and lesser oxygen.
c) What is water pollution?
Ans. When harmful things are released into water, making it dirty and impure, it is known as water pollution.
