Q1. Name the following.

a.     The volatile memory of a computer. RAM

b.     Any one removable storage device of a computer. Pen drive

c.      It supplies power to each and every component inside the CPU unit. SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) or PSU (Power Supply Unit)

d.     The thin plate that hold the processor. Motherboard

Q2. Name the ports to connect the following devices.

a.     Headphone – Audio In/Audio Out

b.     Monitor – VGA port

c.      Pen drive – USB port

d.     Mouse – PS/2

Q3. Answer the following questions.

a.     What is the purpose of ROM? List the different types of ROM.

Ans- ROM is used to hold instructions that are executed when the computer is initially switched on.

Types of ROM

1.      PROM (Programmable Read- Only Memory)

2.      EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read- Only Memory)

3.    EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read- Only Memory)

 

b.     Write a short note on the role of secondary memory of a computer.

Ans – It is the memory of the computer where information is stored permanently for future use. Secondary memory devices can be removable and non-removable .

For example, an internal hard disk (non-removable storage device)

                        CDs, DVDs, pen drives (removable storage device)

c.      What is the use of computer fan inside the system unit?

Ans- A computer fan is a small fan inside a computer case used for cooling the different parts that get heated up when the computer is ON.

 

d.     Explain the significance of motherboard.

Ans – It is a thin plate that holds the processor and other components. It provides electrical connections by which other components of the system can communicate with each other.
